Visit Kiev

City with 1535 years history

Sorry, this site temporary under contraction

The Ancient City Welcomes You!

You are going to visit a city, which celebrated its 1,535th anniversary not so long ago, in 2017. Kiev used to be the capital of Kievan Rus, an ancient state of the Eastern Slavs and the cradle of the Ukrainians as a nation.

The first chronicle of Kievan Rus and Ukraine, "The Tale of Bygone Years", was written in Kiev, and the first library, school, hospital and academy were set up in this city. The lives, oeuvres and creations of many famous and outstanding scientists, writers, composers, artists, architects, actors and singers were closely connected with Kiev. Its history contains many heroic episodes of revolutionary struggle and selfless fighting against the Nazis in the years of World War II and history of two Ukrainian revolutions, peaceful Orange Revolution in 2004, and Revolution of Dignity in 2014 with tragic fighting against regime of Yanukovich.

At the same time Kiev is frequently referred to as a young city, which is also true, considering that it was badly destroyed by bombing during the last war, and had to be rebuilt anew. But visitors can see with their own eyes how much respect Kiev's residents have for their history. Hundreds of historical buildings and monuments destroyed by the last war or the irreversible course of time have been reconstructed or lovingly restored. It should be noted that in December 1990, in accordance with the UNESCO Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, St. Sophia's Cathedral and the Kiev-Pechery Lavra were put on the List of the World Heritage.

All those who have visited Kiev at least once have admired the picturesque setting of the city spread over a hilly terrain, encircled by the powerful River Dnieper, surrounded with woods, and dotted with parks, lakes, streams and golden beaches. Nowadays Kiev, is the largest city (both in area and in the size of population) and the capital of the Ukraine, a major industrial, scientific and cultural center on the country.

In short, there is a lot of things to do and many things to see there. We hope that our website will help you in your sightseeing, (especially if you decide to visit Kiev independently, on foot, by public transportat or by renting a car. And if you're on a guided tour, it'll supplement the guide's information). Will help you to find a nice hotel or choose place to eat, choose road pass, and many other things.
